Riding techniques (13)

The Leg Wave a-la Rossi Featured

Every now and again there is a quantum leap in motorcycle racing technology, whether it’s the engine, chassis, suspension, riding techniques or safety. Consider the genius of Walter Kaaden’s 2-stroke expansion chamber or the back protector which Barry Sheene knocked up from old visors for Dainese to transform into a massive success.

Conquer your fears with California Superbike School Featured

If you have ever had an accident on your motorcycle you will no doubt carry a little baggage from the experience whether that is toward certain vehicles, road surfaces, weather conditions - basically anything that you feel might have been a contributing factor to your incident. When this happens you try to adjust your riding or even back it off a little to add a buffer zone in case of a problem, my day at California Superbike School was all about seeing if this could be altered or removed.

At advanced level you are advised to develop your level of observation further up the road to give yourself more time to plan.

However, an area of observation that is often overlooked is the ability to link what you are seeing to circumstances that may develop as the ride progresses.
